Carl Zimmerman has been teaching at Parkview since
2007 and coaching basketball since 2005.
He currently teaches AP and Honors United States History.
Mr./Coach Zimmerman earned a BA in history from Samford
University in 1972 and a Masters in Secondary Education with a history
major in 1976 also from Samford University.
His teaching/coaching career has included stops at B.B. Comer
High School and Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama (1972-1977);
Cleveland High School, Cookeville High School, and LaVergne High School
in Tennessee (1985-1999); Jordan High School (1977-1985), Shiloh High
School (2000- 2005) and Parkview High School in Georgia. His
coaching career has included head coaching in boys basketball for twenty
six years; in boys tennis for eighteen years, girls tennis for thirteen
years; as an assistant basketball
coach for twelve years; as an assistant football coach for fourteen
years. He has been an active supporter of all the programs and students
at Parkview. He was selected
by the 2010 senior class as the recipient of the “I Made A Difference
Award.” Mr. Zimmerman has
been married to his wife, Sally, for forty one years.
They are the proud parents of four children: Michael, Andrew,
Joel, and Anna.
