FRESHMAN INDEX (FI)

(Highest SAT verbal + highest SAT math) + (GPA X 500) = FI

Example: Student has a SAT score of 503 verbal and 497 on math 1000 (SAT points)
And he has a 3.0 GPA 3.0 X 500 + 1500 (GPA points)
Freshman Index is 2500 (FI points)

Although he meets the minimum standard for admission to a research university (UGA, GA Tech, GA State University, Medical College of Georgia), increased competition could mean that this student might not be accepted. The tougher admissions standards make it imperative that high school students take the appropriate courses, perform well in them, and make a high score on the SAT.
