Each counselor is responsible for students based upon an alphabetical division of last names, which can change each year. To contact a counselor for a telephone or personal conference, please call: (770) 806-3795. Calls are returned as soon as possible. The college and career specialist is available to assist students in exploring career and post-secondary options as well as scholarship and financial aid opportunities. The counseling secretary handles requests for appointments, transcripts, SAT and ACT registration information, good student insurance forms, NCAA forms, and Work Permits. The registrar can help with information regarding school withdrawal or transfer, registration, transcription of records, and immunization. PROCEDURES FOR APPOINTMENTS With Counselors: A secretary is available during lunch, before and after school in the Counseling Office to make appointments. Students are not released during class time to make appointments. A counselor is available during all lunches, before and after school if students needs some information.With Teachers: You may call the teacher's workroom and leave a message. Contact Numbers:
Parents are encouraged to attend the PTSA Open House each semester. PERSONAL COUNSELINGCounselors are available by appointment for: Assisting students with career decisions, post-secondary choices and the application process. Counselors will attempt to identify a problem or roadblock in each student’s quest and intervene when appropriate. Meeting with concerned parents. Parents should contact the Counseling Office to request an appointment with the appropriate counselor. Discussing options. Although it is the responsibility of the student to complete the courses appropriate for his/her diploma choice, each student can meet individually with his/her counselor. Counseling with students about personal concerns and problems, such as parent-child relationships, academic or motivation problems, student-teacher and peer relationships, school adjustment, etc. Crisis Intervention and referrals. Some areas of crisis intervention for which identification of need and referral are appropriate include threatened suicide, pregnancy, abuse, and extreme emotional or behavioral problems. School counselors do not engage in private therapy. Parents may wish to consult their child’s medical doctor and insurance carrier for appropriate procedures if a private therapist is being considered. The responsibility of private therapist and related fees lies with the parent.
