is a listing of all Computer Science
courses offered at Parkview.
Computer Science Courses
AP
Computer Science
(Prerequisite: Computer Programming
and Approval by Mr. Naile)
Year-long
course. This course is equivalent to
college level introduction to
computer science. Computer
Programming I or Computer
Programming II is a strongly
recommend prerequisite but not
required. AP Computer Science
uses Java as a tool to explore
Computer Science.
Advanced Web Design
(Prerequisite: Web
Design)
Students will create websites in
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks
and Flash. Topics include website
development, image editing and
animation. Upon completion,
students will be able to create and
format powerful and dynamic
websites.
Computer Programming I (Visual Basic)
(Prerequisite: Algebra I)
Available to all grades.
Students implement solutions to
simple problems and create simple
games in Visual Basic. Students
will learn the basics of programming
and prepare to take Computer
Programming II (Java). No
programming experience is
necessary. This is a year-long
course.
Computer
Programming II (Java)
(Prerequisite:
Computer Programming I)
Students will
learn introductory Java and create
simple applications. Prepares
students to take AP Computer
Science. This is a year-long
course.
Web
Page Design
This
course will include an overview of
the basic principles of Web page
design. Students will utilize the
planning process to create Web
pages. HTML and JavaScript
programming techniques will be
taught as well as an introduction
Microsoft FrontPage. Web Design
concepts and the Web Design will
also be discussed. |
