Media Center Resources
      Forty networked computers provide entree to a variety of academic databases providing students with access to millions of full-text newspapers, magazines and  journal articles. Complementing these resources are on-line dictionaries, encyclopedias and a variety of subject specific databases.
     Access to many of these databases is offered through GALILEO and the Georgia Career Information Center. Password lists for home access are available in the media center.
      Over 17,000 books, videos, DVD’s and CD’s are housed in the media center. Nearly fifty journals and newspapers are also available for in-house use. Circulation of these resources is on-line and fully automated

 

Circulation Policy
I.    Students may check out a maximum of four
      books
II.   Books may be checked out for up to two weeks
III.  Book renewals are for two weeks
IV.  Check-outs must be renewed at the circulation
      desk
V.   Reference books may be checked out overnight VI.  Magazines and Journals are in-house only

Late Fees
I.  Overdue books are assessed a 5˘ per
day fine to a maximum of $3.00
II. Overdue reference books are assessed a fine of 75˘ per day to a maximum of $3.00

Lost Books
GCPS assesses a charge for lost books  
 Paperbacks:     $10.00
 Hardbacks:      $20.00
 Reference:       $50.00

Printing and Copies
Copies:                            10˘ per page
Black & White Copies:        10˘ per page

Policies and Procedures
I.  The PHS Media Center is open before and after   school. Students do not need to sign-in, sign-out or present passes at these times.
II. Students visiting the PHS Media Center during regular class times must sign-in, sign-out and have a teacher’s pass.
III. Guided Study students visiting the PHS Media Center during 5th or 6th period must have a Guided Study Pass signed and dated by his or her academic teacher and by the guided study teacher. Advisement / Guided study students are expected to remain for the entire period.
IV. Up to six students may come to the PHS Media Center on a group pass. Students using a group pass must sign-in, sign-out and enter and leave together.
V.  PHS Media Center computers are school property. Inappropriate behavior as outlined in the GCPS Acceptable Use Policy will result in disciplinary action.
VI. Eating and drinking in the PHS Media Center are prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in confiscation of the food and drink.
