Overview
OSS is computer software whose code one can see and edit freely. Surprisingly, the government had supported the use and development of open source software for the past few decades. As a result, many projects have become popular and successful. With humble origins, open source software has grown to harness powerful projects that benefit the corporate, government, and personal sectors.

The general advantages include troubleshooting by a consumer and options and add-ons that can be written in by the consumer, making the software more personal and suited to one’s needs. Disadvantages include features difficult to write code for will not be written by the common consumer. It is difficult to have cutting edge software packaged with stability if new code continues to be written.
