The
PTSA is dedicated to supporting programs that enhance our child's high
school educational experience and opportunities to learn valuable life
skills. Through your support by joining the PTSA you as parents
make these programs "happen" at Parkview.
The
commitment of our volunteers has been a hallmark of the Parkview
community. If you would like to serve on a PTSA committee please
fill out and return the volunteer form that will be included in your
packet of information on Registration Day, August 7. If you

Committees:
Academic Priorities
- To
foster and promote academic activities at Parkview and to evaluate
requests for spending on academic programs.
Baccalaureate
Service -
To sponsor the
Baccalaureate Service, including securing a facility, speaker, local
clergy, and music and to insure that the PTSA Baccalaureate
guidelines are followed.
College Fair -
To
sponsor a college fair and to coordinate seminars on topics of
interest to students applying to colleges as an enhancement to the
services currently provided by the Counseling Department.
Commemorative Bricks
-To sell
and install commemorative bricks for the gym patio area as permanent
tributes.
Environmental
Education -
To serve as a
liaison between the school and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and work
with the GC&B teacher representative and SAGE club to encourage
participation in the areas of environmental education.
Exceptional Children
- To
sponsor an appreciation event for the Special Education faculty and
recognize accomplishments of Exceptional Children.
Health
- To sponsor and coordinate activities that relate to Red Ribbon
Week, Teen Driving Expo & Prom Promise.
Honors Night -
To
sponsor the Parkview Honors Night assemblies, including preparation
of the program & hospitality.
Hospitality -
To provide
hospitality for PTSA events, teacher luncheons, Teacher Appreciation
Week, Custodian & School Bus Driver Appreciation Weeks, School
Nurse Day, Cafeteria Appreciation Day, Secretaries and Bosses Day.
Legislation -
To monitor
legislation at the state and federal level regarding education
and/or matters of interest to the PTSA, to report to the PTSA on the
status of such legislation, to coordinate legislative efforts and
initiatives, and to coordinate PTA Day at the Capitol.
Long Range Planning -
To examine the role
of Parkview High School five to ten years from now and to brainstorm
and prioritize initiatives intended to lay the groundwork for the
promotion of activities of the PTSA in the future.
Membership -
To encourage and
promote 100% family and faculty membership in the PTSA, to print &
distribute membership cards and information, and to maintain records
of Parkview’s PTSA membership from year to year.
Miss Parkview
Pageant -
To sponsor the
principal fundraising activity of the PTSA, including the
preparation and distribution of entry forms, coordination of fund
raising activities of the contestants, recruitment of judges and
master of ceremonies, volunteers to provide sound system and
lighting, and to supervise the running of the pageant.
Publicity
- To promote timely news coverage of upcoming events as well as to
disseminate news articles about Parkview programs to the media.
Reflections -
To sponsor the
PTA Reflections program at Parkview and encourage participation.
Scholarships -
To
publicize, recruit judges, and supervise the application process by
which the Parkview PTSA awards annual scholarships to graduating
seniors.
Student Ideas &
Issues -
To promote communication between students, parents, and the Parkview
faculty and to sponsor activities and events of interest to the
student body.
Student Directory -
To
coordinate the collection of data, publication and
distribution of the student phone directory.
Sunshine -
To communicate
in appropriate ways with faculty, students and parents who have
suffered a loss of a loved one and coordinate activities to
recognize faculty retirements.
Teacher Recognition
- To
sponsor recognition activities for outstanding teachers and to
foster continuous advancement of our faculty.
Volunteer
Coordinator -
To maintain records
of volunteers who have expressed an interest in participating in
PTSA activities, to report to the Committee chairs the names and
contact information for such individuals, and to recruit volunteers
for other areas as needed.
Web/
Technology -
To maintain and
update the PTSA website, to input PTSA member email addresses, and
inform parents and students of upcoming events. |
