I am a native Californian, but have lived in Georgia for almost thirty years. I graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1973. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary Spanish Education from the University of Montevallo in 1976. While attending the University of Montevallo, I was active in Alpha Delta Pi Social Sorority, Pi Kappa Phi Little Sis, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi National Spanish Honor Society, and performed with the Synchronized Swim Club. I was named Senior Elite for Foreign Language.

I then traveled to Athens, Georgia to become a diehard "JunkYard Dog". I was a graduate teaching assistant at UGA for two years while working on my graduate degree. I received my Master of Teaching in 1979. I continued to live in Athens for three years and teach Spanish at Loganville High School.

In 1982 I moved to Atlanta and did office work for a year. I came to Parkview in 1983 and I will retire here! When I came to Parkview we had 600 students and I was the second Spanish teacher. I parked where the Language Arts building is now! We occupied the Main building and the Cafeteria/Gym. The Social Studies building was a Vocational School. The Theater and Language Arts building (and the Panther Gym) did not exist! In those days Parkview was know for academics, not sports (especially not football!) Through the years, I have taught every level of Spanish offered. My favorite is Spanish 3. I have taken students to Europe 5 times! There have been many changes (professional and personal) since I came to Parkview over 20 years ago.

I was single in 1983 and my last name was Smith. I was married in 1984. My husband and I lived in Dunwoody for 10 years. We moved to the Parkview area in '98, after our house was hit by a tornado! I have two children. My son graduated from Parkview (class of 2004) and now attends the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. My daughter attends Parkview. In my leisure time (?!) I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, needlework, travel, and jazz. I am a Senior Girl Scout Leader.
