ABOUT RONDA COLLETT:
I am 35 years old and have been teaching a total of twelve years. I have been teaching at Parkview for nine years. I have lived in Gwinnett County just about all my life. I attended Five Forks Middle School and Brookwood High School. I started college at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where I earned a basketball scholarship. After attending school there for two years, I changed my major from child psychology to special education and transferred to North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia where I also played basketball. I graduated in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in special education.
I began my teaching career at Pinckneyville Middle School where I taught sixth grade resource students and was the department chair. I also coached at Duluth High School. I interviewed for and got the job as varsity girls basketball coach at Parkview in 1994. At that time, I taught the self-contained emotionally behaviorally disordered students. In 1996, I opened the intellectually disabled mild program here at Parkview. During my time in middle school, I also completed my Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities and earned a certificate in teaching Interrelated. In 2001, I earned my Master's Add-On in Educational Administration. I will finish my Specialist degree in Educational Administration in September and wish to pursue a job in Administration in Gwinnett. I have since given up coaching varsity basketball to be at home more and have taken on some duties at Parkview to stay involved. I am the senior sponsor and with a team of very helpful colleagues, take care of graduation and all senior activities. I also continue to keep my hands in coaching by helping the 9th grade boy's basketball program whenever time allows.
In 1996, I married Wayne Collett. Presently, Wayne is the boy's basketball coach at Rockdale County High School where he teaches physical education. In 1999, we had the joy of our lives, our little boy, Cody. Cody is now 4 1/2 years old and is more fun than I can put into words. I have never known adoration like I adore that child. I am due to have our second child in a week, a little girl, that we plan on naming Kaily Ann. Wayne, Cody and I attend Mountain Park Baptist Church and are proud to say God is our savior and the center of our family.
