WORLD HISTORY

SECOND SEMESTER

World History is a class that will engage students in independent learning activities, cooperative learning activities and class centered learning activities.  Each student will leave this class with an understanding and knowledge of past and possible future events of our world civilization.

Unit Studies:

          Absolutism

          England (Tudor & Stuart)

          Enlightenment & French Revolution

          Napoleon, Latin America & Age of Metternich

          Industrial Revolution, Nationalism & Imperialism

          World War I, Post WWI & Russian Revolution

          World War II, Cold War & Global Village

Materials: Text ($48.96), Loose-leaf Notebook, Paper, Colored Pencils/Markers, Pens or Pencils

Grades and Assignments:  All of your grades (i.e. tests, quizzes, daily work, projects, etc.) are based on the points system.  To determine your grade at any time during the semester add you total earned points and divide by the total points possible!  The County will determine the policy of the weight of the Final Exam and this will be reflected in your grade.

NOTICE:  NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AT ALL!! 

          If you do not understand an assignment, have a family emergency, etc. please see me and I will work with you on another date to turn in your work.  My policies are NO EXCUSES and ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF!!

               If you have an EXCUSED absence then you have 5 days to turn in any make-up work.  It is your responsibility to ask for the missed assignments either before or after school.  I will not take class time to discuss make-up work.  Longstanding assignments are due the day you return from an absence, such as projects, notebooks, etc.  There will be a calendar where most of the information will be written concerning what was accomplished in class and assigned for homework each day.  Consult that first and then come to me with any questions.  If you check in or out of school any assignment is due before you leave or after you return that day.

          Your averages will be posted at all times throughout the semester!  Use this as an incentive to keep a high score and to keep up with any missed work.  The grades will be posted by Student Number to protect privacy. 

One on One Time: I will make as much time as possible available for study sessions, questions, and individual instruction.  Mornings and afternoons are available for this time.  Please just let me know when and how I can be of help to you!  Should you need special services of any kind just let me know.  Parents, please use email as much as possible for communication as it is more efficient!

5.  Show Restraint when speaking and participating in class.

6.  NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE CLASSROOM!  (PHS RULE)
