Summer 2006

 Dear AP World History Students:

I am looking forward to another successful year of AP World History with a large group of such bright young students!  I have heard wonderful things about each of you and am excited to work with you.  I have prepared a summer reading schedule for you.  You will be reading Guns, Germs, and Steel:  The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond.  You may purchase this book on www.amazon.com or try to find it locally.  There will be a quiz or assessment at the beginning of school on this reading.  On August 11^th, Schedule Pick-Up Day, I will issue you the AP Text so that you can begin reading the first chapter before the first day of school to lessen the pressure.  I expect you all to do these assignments to get our year started off correctly with each other.  You MUST also purchase a review book this summer to use as well throughout the school year.  Barron’s, Princeton’s and Peterson’s are all very good.  Barron’s seems to be more widely used.  All of these can be easily ordered from www.amazon.com and if you order them together you will save on shipping.  Be sure to order early to avoid sell-outs.  Have a safe, history-filled, and happy summer!
