Community Skills

Community Skills is that segment of our program that provides each student an opportunity to experience, practice and perform meaningful vocational skills in a natural environment.
During the community-based consumer skills training, the student is provided  opportunities to practice functional academic and non-academic skills relating to basic skills used by the consumer in everyday life.  This helps to promotes self-sufficiency and independence in each student. During their participation in the community-based vocational training, the student will have many training experiences as part of their career development.  They receive training in vocational, social and adaptive behavior skills relating to occupations in the community.

Presently our class participates in job skills training at two local businesses:
Longhorn Steak House and T.J. Maxx; both located on Highway 78, Stone Mountain, Georgia.
