Course description

Sophomore Language Arts is an integrated language arts course for the college-bound tenth grade student.  This approach includes work in listening and speaking; reading; vocabulary; literature; writing; grammar, usage, and mechanics; and accessing information, reference skills, and study skills.

Class Procedures:

  1. Anything you submit for a grade must be written in blue or black ink or typed. Do not use spiral bound paper. Buy correction fluid to make your life easier.
  2. You must keep a notebook for this class with 5 dividers: handouts, notes, daily work, quizzes and tests, and writings
  3. Only water may be consumed in this classroom.
  4. Your cell phone and/or pager must be turned off while in this classroom.
  5. Cheating will not be tolerated. See student handbook for punishment.
  6. I do not accept late work!!!
  7. Profanity is the sign of someone with a limited vocabulary. Since vocabulary is one of our AKS skills, profanity will not be allowed.
  8. Your books must be covered to insure that they last until the county can afford to buy new ones.
  9. Detentions are 30 minutes in length and you are given 24 hours to arrange transportation. Sport practices or work is not an excuse for missing detention.
  10. Tardy? Refer to the new STAMP program in your handbook. 3 tardies = 1 absences; more than 10 absences equals your not receiving credit for the course, no matter your grade.
