Essay Guidelines- 100 points

Follow Parkview’s composition standards

Write or type on only one side of the paper

Write in the present tense. (Example:  Piggy carries the conch to the mountain.)

Use good transitional words and phrases

Avoid contractions and slang

Proof read carefully

Use your personal writing checklist

Include at least 3 quotes in this 5-paragraph paper, 1 per body paragraph

Paragraphs must be well developed.

Thesis statement should be the last sentence of the introductory paragraph.

 

Quotation documentation:

“Piggy wiped his glasses on his dirty jacket” (22).  Pay attention to where the quotation marks, parentheses, and end punctuation occur in the sentence. This does matter to your grade. Incorporate the quotations you take from the novel into your argument. They are used to support your points.

 

Topics:

1.Explain how the island is a microcosm of adult society.

 

2. Show how Golding uses foreshadowing in the book to prepare the reader for the action that finally evolves in Chapters 11 & 12.
