Choose a Greek myth from the list at the bottom. Do research on the
Internet and /or the library; one possible site that you can use is www.myths.com/pub/myths/myth.html.
Another good source of info is Edith Hamilton’s Mythology, but you
are not restricted to these two sources. Be aware that there is no one
policing or editing the Internet; consequently, there is a lot of bad
information out there, so make sure that you have seen something in two
different sources by two different authors before you deem it eligible for
your paper and presentation. Each student must do a different myth from the
list, so turn in your selection to me ASAP:
first come, first served. If you are familiar with another myth not
listed below, see me for permission.
Your project grade is two-fold. You must type a synopsis of the myth, written
in your own words. Be sure to include bibliographic citation for all sources.
Each student must also give a presentation to his/her peers, sharing the
knowledge that he or she has acquired. The presentation must last at least one
minute in length and must contain a visual aid. This visual aid can be a
poster, a Power point presentation, a model, costuming, etc. Let your
imagination be your guide! Two class periods, not consecutive, have been set
aside to work on this project. I will announce these days in advance so that
materials can be brought in to work on it. Each student will receive two
grades: one for the paper and one for the presentation. Be sure to learn how
to pronounce all names correctly before your presentation. Be advised that
failure to do this assignment will have a detrimental effect on one’s
average.
